Pleasantly Odd
Pleasantly Odd is a bimonthly radio show hosted and curated by Essen based DJ duo such a blurrr. A strong center rooted in electronic music and club culture is combined with an "anything goes" ethos of two minds always thirsty for new experiences and open for bold u-turns. Serious fun, obscuring quirkiness and psychedelic deliveries for those who know and like to blurrr the lines.
About this Episode
Pleasantly Odd hosts such a blurrr are happy to welcome the first international guest:
ORPHÉE is a Paris-based DJ and vinyl collector active since 1993. In the ’90s he worked at Salinas, at a time when the shop and distribution network was handling some of the early releases from Versatile, Daft Punk and Motorbass. During the same period he played across the French rave and club circuit and internationally. He later contributed to the Fairway compilation series, including Goa Core.
After a long break from the scene, he returned in 2013 to co-found La Fête Triste, first through off-space parties and later at venues including La Machine and Batofar. He then co-formed Quick Culture, both as a DJ duo and a series of events.
His sets move freely between acid house, new beat, post-punk, minimal wave, EBM, proto-techno, early trance and psychedelic electronics, connecting records and eras without much concern for genre boundaries. Recent projects include the Twisted Antics mix series and Signal Drift, his ongoing radio show.
